Accessible and affordable education is a necessity in a vibrant and progressive democracy and is at the heart of a competent, prosperous, fair and sustainable society. Quality education enriches the lives and values of the entire citizenry, allowing all people to have a deeper and more critical understanding of the world around them.

Our public schools here in Maiwar are some of the State’s best. With the increase of new residents in our suburbs due to new apartment developments, though, the existing capacity of our local schools are tested. To ensure our kids continue to receive the best education, we must address the high levels of over-enrolment in our schools.

The Greens will lobby for an updated enrolment management plan for all schools in the inner-western suburbs. While some management plans may have been updated recently, it’s clear that every school within the Maiwar electorate that is not already under stress will be soon with expected population increases across the inner-western suburbs.
